Interior

In nature, trees symbolise the concept of home. Similarly, in Hong Kong’s public housing estates, trees are an indispensable element of communal spaces where people rest and play in the shade. Through this imagery, OVAL aims to bridge the gap between citizens and housing policies by transforming the exhibition hall into a diverse, organically developing platform.

An enormous tree establishes in the centre of the exhibition space, representing the Hong Kong Housing Society’s people-oriented approach and commitment to providing quality housing. The surrounding exhibition areas are likened to nutrients, reflecting the Housing Society’s efforts in policy and execution to create a better home for residents.

To vividly present this concept, OVAL employs various innovative display techniques. The entrance features a typical decoration of estate corridors and evoking collective memories among visitors. Interactive game machines educate on the concept of “The Housing Ladder” in an engaging way. An immersive LED dome with 360 VR technology provides a comprehensive experience of HKHS’s projects. Naked-eye 3D projection and virtual twin interactions focus on HKHS’s innovations in construction technology. An interactive archive showcases HKHS’s developmental milestones, resonating with the future vision in the central area — where visitors symbolically participate in its sustainable development by “irrigating” the tree.
