Envisioning Beyond Legacy

Located at City Gallery, ‘Envisioning Beyond Legacy’ is a multimedia exhibition to showcase the planning and infrastructure achievements of Hong Kong over the past 25 years, as well as the future developments. Interactive installations and games are heavily designed to drive self-exploration by visitors.

Once enter the City Gallery, a captivating 270-degree LED screen was placed at the ground floor, alluring visitors to ‘walk’ into the video and ‘experience’ the past, present and bright future of Hong Kong. The strong visual effect generated contagious emotion and resonance for visitors that Hong Kong was transformed from a fishing village to an economic powerhouse in Asia and one of the growth engines of GBA.

Moving to third floor, the exhibition area is divided into two zone: ‘Building a New Era for Hong Kong’ and ‘Building the Islands of the Future – Kau Yi Chau Artificial Experience Pavilion’. In ‘Building a New Era for Hong Kong’, it introduces how Hong Kong has became a liveable, competitive and sustainable Asia’s World City through 100” interactive pillars to enhance the engagement. Interactive and immersive L-shaped LED screen with motion sensor is the centre piece of the entire exhibition and highlighting ten future developments. A magnified Hong Kong map which embedded motion tracking sensors laid on the LED floor is designed for the public to explore specific projects on their own initiative. Public could immerse themselves into the LED wall and floor by stepping on the map and trigger the ‘Development Highlights’ spots and activate the project details instantly. This visual effect creates a clear geographic blueprint to comprehend the linkage and synergy of all projects.

In Building the Islands of the Future – Kau Yi Chau Artificial Experience Pavilion’, it introduce development of Artificial Islands in Central Waters. Visitor will be invited to join an interactive game: ‘Building the Islands of the Future’ to co-create your ideal community. The back-end system will consolidate data from players, upload to the cloud, and display in the real-time monitor.

Crucially, this inclusive exhibition is designed to create a barrier free environment. Audio guide, braille, tactile guide paths and stair chair, for example, were provided purposely to welcome visitors from different ages, ethnicities and disabilities.
