The Making of 2018 New Series Banknotes

To educate the public on the new themes’ rationale, we specially produced a making of video featuring the process of brainstorming the thematic concept and design of 2018 series. The new designs, inspired by the city’s daily life and distinctive local cultural elements — began with the popular dim sum and yum cha culture (HK$20), the locally-inhabited butterflies (HK$50), the Cantonese opera (HK$100), the UNESCO Global Geopark (HK$500), and last but not least, Hong Kong as the international financial centre (HK$1,000).
