H6 CONET
Interior
The permise covered 2,800 sq.m in the ground floor of The Centre which used to be an enclosed area occupied by several NGO offices. The site was originally connected with six lanes and streets with rich historical and cultural background in the Central Business District. The design concept aimed at re-opening up the space, enhancing connectivity with the adjoining streets for the benefit and convenience of the public without sacrificing the NGO offices.
Vertical greening was extensively used to purify the air and bring the public closer to the nature. In cooperation with the University of Hong Kong, an experimental bio-filter project was initiated for monitoring the improvement on air quality. Community and disabled artists were invited to decorate the interior and enrich the space with graffiti and paintings. Intended to be “a place for the community’, H6 CONET provided a quality space for public enjoyment while enhancing connectivity in the busy heart of Central.
The new community space provided more amenities and supported diversified cultural and art activities such as performances, movies, forums and exhibitions. It also accommodated the Urban Renewal Exploration Centre, which was furnished with innovative and smart technology to allow the public to learn about the mission and vision of the Urban Renewal Authority’s (URA) projects through the tablets provided.
Location: The Centre, Central District
